Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders went live at midnight local time on June 25, 2026. The game is available through major US and UK digital storefronts and retailers, with prices ranging from $79 to $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition.
This guide covers where to pre-order, what each store charges, what to know about refund policies, and physical versus digital decisions before you commit.
Where you can pre-order GTA 6
Pre-orders are available through three digital storefronts: the PlayStation Store for PS5 and PS5 Pro, the Xbox Store (also known as the Microsoft Store) for Xbox Series X|S, and the Rockstar Games Store. Physical copies in code-in-box format are available through six sellers: Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart, Target, and the Rockstar Games Store directly.
Both the Standard and Ultimate Editions are available digitally through the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and Rockstar Games Store. Physical retailers only carry the Standard Edition. The Ultimate Edition is digital only.
Pricing across stores
The Standard Edition price varies slightly depending on where you buy. The PlayStation Store and Xbox Store both list the Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99. The Rockstar Games Store matches these prices. Amazon and Walmart list the Standard Edition at $79.97 on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Best Buy and GameStop hold to $79.99. Target offers the Standard Edition at $79.
For most buyers, the price difference of less than one dollar won’t be the deciding factor. Availability, shipping speed, and any store-specific bonuses or promotions matter more.
Pre-order the Standard Edition on Amazon
If you want a physical copy of the Standard Edition, Amazon is the most convenient option for most buyers. Pre-order the Standard Edition on Amazon: PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S.
Both ship as a code in a box, releasing alongside digital copies on November 12, 2026, for pre-load. The game itself launches November 19, 2026.
Note: Amazon US briefly sold out of PS5 Standard Edition physical copies on pre-order day. Restocks are expected throughout the months leading up to launch. If a listing shows out of stock, check back within a few days.
The Ultimate Edition is digital only
If you want the Ultimate Edition, you need to buy it digitally. The Ultimate Edition is not available as a physical product anywhere. You can pre-order the Ultimate Edition through the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, or Rockstar Games Store.
The Ultimate Edition includes everything in the Standard Edition plus additional in-game content: a collection of premium vehicles (‘95 Grotti Cheetah, Shitzu Squalo, ‘67 Vapid Dominator Buggy), personalized weapon variants for Jason’s Girardi ES9 pistol and Lucia’s Klose K17 pistol, exclusive apparel, and two side missions not available in the Standard Edition.
The Ultimate Edition also includes five in-game businesses and customization locations: Rideout Customs, One-Eyed Willie’s, Sara’s Unisex Salon, Electric Fang Tattoo, and Stock 305. Rockstar has described all five as Ultimate Edition exclusives.
For more detail on what’s in each edition, see our full breakdown of GTA 6 editions.
Rockstar has not announced a Collector’s Edition. Only the Standard and Ultimate Editions are available. That could change before launch, but nothing has been confirmed.
You can upgrade from Standard to Ultimate after launch
Buyers who start with the Standard Edition can upgrade to the Ultimate Edition after launch.
The upgrade pricing has not been confirmed. Past Rockstar releases have priced upgrade packs to roughly match the original price difference between editions, but specific pricing for the Standard-to-Ultimate upgrade for GTA 6 will be announced closer to launch.
The Vintage Vice City Pack is universal
Every pre-order across every store comes with the Vintage Vice City Pack as a bonus, as long as you pre-order before November 20, 2026.
The Vintage Vice City Pack includes a 1955 Vapid Stanier sedan, a garage alongside Ocean Beach, vintage outfits and hairstyles for both Jason and Lucia, and a weapon pattern that, in the studio’s words, “echoes the excess of the past.” The pack draws on the Vice City aesthetic that the 2002 game made famous.
Digital pre-orders through the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and Rockstar Games Store also include a free month of GTA+ membership. Physical pre-orders do not include the GTA+ month.
Refund and cancellation policies
Pre-orders can be cancelled at most stores, but the windows differ.
Digital storefronts like the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and Rockstar Games Store allow you to cancel a digital pre-order at any point before the game releases on November 19, 2026, as long as you haven’t downloaded the game or used any post-launch unlocked content.
Physical retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart, and Target allow you to cancel a physical pre-order at any point before the order ships. Physical copies ship starting November 12, 2026, alongside the digital pre-load window. After your order ships, standard return policies apply, which usually require an unopened product.
Always check the specific store’s pre-order policy before committing if you have any doubt. Policies can change between when this article publishes and when you place your order.
What about a PC version?
No PC version of GTA 6 has been announced. The current pre-order window only covers PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S.
Rockstar has historically released PC versions of Grand Theft Auto games one to two years after the console release. GTA V launched on consoles in September 2013 and didn’t reach PC until April 2015. If GTA 6 follows the same pattern, a PC version could arrive sometime in 2027 or 2028, though that remains unconfirmed.
PC players should wait for an official PC release date announcement before considering any pre-order option. Any third-party site claiming to take GTA 6 PC pre-orders right now is not selling an official Rockstar product.
The Ultimate Edition is digital only.
Which store should you choose?
For most buyers, the differences are small.
Digital buyers should use the storefront tied to their console: the PlayStation Store for PS5 and PS5 Pro, the Xbox Store for Xbox Series X|S. The free month of GTA+ is meaningful if you plan to play GTA Online, and pre-load access starts November 12 so you can jump in immediately at launch.
Physical buyers have more options. Amazon is the most convenient for home delivery. GameStop offers trade-in opportunities and has historically held midnight launch events for past GTA releases. Best Buy and Target are reliable alternatives if Amazon stock runs out. Walmart’s pricing is competitive and it has wide availability in physical stores.
Collectors should know that all physical copies are download codes packaged in retail boxes rather than discs. Once redeemed, those codes are tied to an account and cannot be resold.
What to do now
If you haven’t pre-ordered yet, the decision-making is straightforward. Decide on the edition first, Standard or Ultimate. If you want Ultimate, you’re buying digitally through PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, or Rockstar Games Store. If you want Standard, you have the choice of digital or physical, and you can buy from any major seller.
Have your payment method ready and your account details current. The Vintage Vice City Pack only applies if you pre-order before November 20.
If you’re undecided between Standard and Ultimate, start with Standard. There’s no penalty for waiting to see whether the Ultimate extras are worth the additional $20 once you’ve played the game.
If you’re not sure whether to pre-order at all, you can wait. The Vintage Vice City Pack remains available through November 20, which gives you nearly five months from now to decide. Physical inventory may vary by retailer, but digital editions will remain available throughout the pre-order period.
Closing
GTA 6 pre-orders are live across every major store and storefront. The Standard Edition is $79.99 at most retailers. The Ultimate Edition is $99.99 and digital only. The Vintage Vice City Pack comes with any pre-order placed before November 20, 2026.
Grand Theft Auto VI launches November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-load begins November 12.
